trophy ranking rank winner Businessman show thumbs up with trophy, reward, winner, champion and successful for businessWhich Biglaw attorneys are most beloved by general counsel for their superior client service? Thanks to a brand new ranking, we’re about to find out.

The BTI Consulting Group set out to find which lawyers handled in-house client service with ease, adding them to their annual list of “all-stars.” To compile the ranking, between January 2022 and March 2023, BTI spoke with more than 350 in-house decision-makers at large organizations with over $700 million in annual revenue.

Law360 has some coverage on BTI’s annual ranking, with additional details here:

BTI’s president, Michael Rynowecer, told Law360 that many of the companies that nominated attorneys for the report expressed an appreciation for lawyers who can anticipate what their clients need and provide it quickly and efficiently.

“Clients are beyond to their eyeballs in work,” Rynowecer said. “So they’ve come to really value the attorneys who really, at an operating level, know what they need and just offer up those resources.”

Almost 300 attorneys were named to this year’s list, but which firms do they hail from? According to Law360, these are the firms where at least five lawyers were named by in-house client:

  • Jones Day: 13
  • Gibson Dunn: 11
  • Carlton Fields: 6
  • Jackson Lewis: 6
  • Kirkland & Ellis: 6
  • Ogletree Deakins: 6
  • Arnold & Porter: 5
  • BakerHostetler: 5
  • Barnes & Thornburg: 5
  • Greenberg Traurig: 5
  • Hogan Lovells: 5
  • Littler: 5
  • Morgan Lewis: 5

With 293 lawyers named to the all-star list, just four were mentioned by more than one client. Which lawyers received the highest honors? As noted by Law360, those lawyers are: Stephanie L. Adler-Paindiris of Jackson Lewis; Sandra C. Goldstein of Kirkland & Ellis; Jeff E. Scott of Greenberg Traurig; and Sara M. Turner of Baker Donelson.

Congratulations to Jones Day and Gibson Dunn for leading the pack on being client service all-stars, and an even bigger congratulations to all of the attorneys who were named by more than one client. You’ve proven yourselves to be outstanding when it comes to making corporate clients happy, and that’s worth celebrating.
